“Where words fail, music speaks.” ― Hans Christian Andersen

An introduction to the world of classical music on Mallorca simply wouldn’t be complete without mentioning first and foremost, the primary orchestra on the island. Established some 30 years ago in 1988, the Orquestra Simfònica Illes Balears is the pinnacle of classical music here. Each year they perform a combination of classical musical pieces, opera, and, for those with families, they also do shorter concerts aimed at children.

During the winter season, the concerts are held at the Palma Theatre or the Palma Auditorium, however during July they hold summer season concerts which take place at various locations including Bellver Castle – adding a whole new level of magic and atmosphere! Some of the upcoming concerts this season include selections from Bach, Hayden, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky; you can find details of their upcoming concerts on their website>>

Ticket prices vary depending on the location and type of concert, but range from 12-65 euros. There is also the option to purchase a season pass for the Palma Theatre which offers further discounts.
