March 1 is a public holiday on all of the Balearic Islands to commemorate the Statute of Autonomy signed on March 1, 1983. Celebrations take place across the four Balearic Islands, but Mallorca’s capital, Palma is the epicenter for events. Festivities include traditional markets, children’s activities and music! Villages around the island will join the celebrations with parades, concerts and festivals.
In Palma, the day generally kicks off at Es Baluard Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art with a medieval market selling traditional food and drinks. Various workshops and demonstrations take place throughout the day!
